Cornish Bin Men

One project that is required in the second year of the Press and Editorial course at Falmouth University, Cornwall UK is on relationships. We are asked over a period of three months to become close to our chosen subject and for it to reflect a relationship with ourselves and the subject/s.

I have just started to photograph three Bin-men in Cornwall. My aim is to become closer with them and to follow their lifestyle around their job.

Meeting at 5.30am at the depo in the middle of the gorgeous countryside to begin to the first village.

The first village.

On board the truck, John drives the truck on the whole round occasionally helping. This was between farms.

Between a housing estate.

In a big council estate where there is alot of collections.

A moment caught showing the speed that this team works at, they literally are breaking sweats in the cold and running up to anything to around eight miles a day.

John, has been working as a bin man and on this round for twenty years. He absolutely loves his job.

At the end of the round, John picks up the last load. He has been a on this round for eleven years.
